PALs (Physical Activity Leaders) is an initiative which trains older people how to lead sport and activity sessions in their local groups and communities. It consists of a series of eight workshops facilitated by Age and Opportunity and all of which will take place in Tipperary.
Physical activity has been recognised as one of the most significant health interventions in the lives of older adults. The aims of the Go for Life Programme is to involve a greater number of older adults in regular physical activity and to have a panel of trained leaders ready to implement their skills in their own group or community. Anyone training to become a PAL will need to attend eight different workshops (five hours each) and engage in both practical and theory work to ensure they receive all the knowledge and skills to lead their local group in physical activity
